International Trade, Exporting & Policy
Join the Irvine Chamber in welcoming the U.S. Chamber’s John Murphy. John will provide an update on the U.S. trade agenda. International commerce provides benefits for many Americans, but too often U.S. exports are shut out of foreign markets. To create a level playing field for U.S. companies and workers, the United States is negotiating the largest trade pacts in history, including the Trans-Pacific Partnership with 11 Asia-Pacific nations and the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership with the European Union. Once concluded, these agreements will provide American exporters with access to markets representing two-thirds of the global economy. Murphy will also discuss the push in Congress to renew Trade Promotion Authority (TPA), legislation needed to enter into these market-opening trade agreements.
