The Professional Development Seminar: Public Health Action Plan to Integrate Mental Health Promotion and Mental Illness Prevention with Chronic Disease, 2011-2015
The nonprofit Chicago School of Professional Psychology, located in downtown Los Angeles, is hosting a free professional development webinar on Thursday, October 16 (6-7:30 p.m.). Dr. Gregory Pappas will discuss the schism between the clinical aspects of mental health and public health addressed by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Centers for Disease Control (CDC). Their report, ”Public Health Action Plan to Integrate Mental Health Promotion and Mental Illness Prevention with Chronic Disease, 2011-2015,” outlines its goal to include the promotion of mental health as part of its efforts to prevent chronic disease. Dr. Pappas’ presentation will review the report, providing background and an update of what the plan has accomplished, and is targeted at psychologists and students, as well as the general public, interested in taking a public health approach to address mental health. Reservations are required.
